Oh Phil, it's really sad to see you going in this direction. Before you buy into some theory that goes counter to scientific consensus, such as the "global warming skeptics" theories, you really should use your critical thinking and reasoning abilities to first make sure that there is validity to the counter theories, otherwise you may be merely passing on disinformation and propaganda.

If you would have bothered to look into Bob Carter's methods, you would have found that his claims are entirely built upon deception and dishonesty. The above posting points to an excellent critique of Bob Carter's article, "Global Warming Denial - Spinning the Scales" at http://skeptipundit.blogspot.com/
and I highly suggest you look it over to find out how you were completely duped.

As for the "global warming skeptics", you will find that most of the handful of skeptics are dismissed by the rest of the scientific community as a bunch of cranks and deception artists, many of whom receive funding by the very industries that profit off of doing nothing about global warming. ExxonMobil is the ring leader in financing industry PR and propaganda to advance their agenda. They've poored millions of dollars into pushing the Global Warming skeptics counter claims.

Here is a good place to start:

In 1998, Exxon devised a plan to stall action on global warming. The plan was outlined in an internal memo (see the memo [PDF]). It promised, "Victory will be achieved when uncertainties in climate science become part of the conventional wisdom" for "average citizens" and "the media."

The company would recruit and train new scientists who lack a "history of visibility in the climate debate" and develop materials depicting supporters of action to cut greenhouse gas emissions as "out of touch with reality."

In the future, Phil, I recommend Googling to find out more about such people as Bob Carter and look at what other scientists say. In short, do your homework. Find out whether or not you are being duped before latching on to such bizarre theories that go against scientific consensus, so that you don't look foolish.
